Emmie te Pas, vocalist and composer of the brand new five-piece band Meika. After a period of almost two years in New York she is back in the Netherlands. There, she immersed herself in the world of modern jazz and got her inspiration from both vocal and instrumental modern jazz. Think of Gretchen Parlato, Avishai Cohen and Kneebody. In addition, she has always had a special place in her heart for soul; with Jill Scott and Erykah Badu as great sources of inspiration. Soul grooves and improvisation with melodic and poetic storylines from the heart; that's what you can expect from Meika's music.
